A Mesmerizing Journey into the Enchanted Realm of an Owl Nest

Barn Owls are listed under the category Federal Species at Risk in Canada, and are subject to a Provincial Recovery Plan. The population in BC is confined to the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, and to the south coast agricultural regions of Vancouver Island. The main habitat requirement is pasture land, and the favourite food source is Townsend’s Vole. There are currently approximatley 500 barn owls left in BC.

Lashmar Equestrian is dedicated to supporting the repopulation of these magnificent creatures. We have built a special box with live camera feed, and we can see the birth and growth of approximately 4 babies a year.
